Group Therapy at EMCC
Journeying alone as you recover from a broken marriage can be an emotionally difficult and painful experience. However, that need not have to happen for you.
At EMCC, our support group for women believes in providing that safe place for you and your group members to begin sharing and walking through life together as you recover and heal.
Who should attend?
- Women who are currently separated from their spouses
- Women currently going through divorce proceedings
How Group Therapy can help you:
- Be able to cope better and feel less isolated
- Make connections with others facing similar challenges and life development concerns
- Share experiences, gaining the support and learning from others
- Promotes personal reflection
- Receiving guidance from trained counsellors
- Overcoming negative patterns
- Catalyst to work towards healthy future goals
Grief and Loss
Losing a relationship in your life is a painful experience, where emotions of anger, fear and grief are natural responses to the loss. One of the most important factors in rebuilding your life and working through a separation/divorce is finding the support you need in others and allowing yourself to share the burden of the grief.

As available spots are limited, we regret that not all applicants will be able to join the group.
Who will be in my group?
The people in your group will be other women who are going through similar circumstances as yourself.
Can a friend join in halfway into the program?
As it is a closed group, the group will not be taking in additional members along the way. This is to maintain the safety, familiarity and trust within the group.
What happens if I miss a session?
We strongly encourage members to be present for all sessions as it is crucial to foster the bond and trust in the group for it to be beneficial for all.
What happens after the stipulated sessions?
While the sessions may stop at EMCC, it is recommended that members continue to meet and support one another.
Will there be/Is there a men’s group?
For the time being, our support group caters to women members. EMCC may look into the possibility of a men’s group in future.
What is the minimum group size?
Our group therapy sessions can begin as long as there are 4 members (excluding counsellors). The maximum number of members is 8.
