As we conclude another impactful year at EMCC, we reflect on the lives touched and milestones achieved in 2024.
Guided by our mission to bring hope and healing, we supported 342 clients across 1682 counselling sessions.
The top presenting issues—anxiety, marital challenges, and self-development—highlight the critical need for mental health support in navigating personal and relational challenges. These insights remind us of the importance of early intervention and the profound difference that professional counselling can make.
Support Through Subsidised Counselling
In 2024, EMCC provided subsidised counselling sessions to some 124 individuals and families in need, ensuring access to support regardless of financial constraints. These subsidies were made possible by the generosity of donors, and we extend our deepest gratitude for their partnership in transforming lives.
Stories of Hope
Behind every counselling session is a story of courage and transformation. Last year, we shared the journeys of three inspiring individuals:
These stories remind us of the transformative power of hope and healing and the importance of supporting one another on our mental health journeys.
Expanding Our Reach and Impact
While our counselling services remain at the heart of EMCC, 2024 was also a year of growth and innovation in other areas. From empowering mental health practitioners to engaging with the community and advocating for mental health awareness, we worked tirelessly to bring hope and healing to more people in diverse ways. Here are some of the year’s key highlights:
Guiding Couples into a New Chapter
As part of our mission to journey with individuals and families through life transitions, EMCC supported 70 couples through our marriage preparation programmes in 2024. The Group Marriage Preparation Programme welcomed 10 couples, while 60 couples participated in our personalised Marriage Preparation Programme. These sessions provided essential guidance for couples embarking on their marital journey, offering practical tools to navigate challenges and build healthy, enduring relationships.
Supporting Our Community
EMCC’s outreach efforts in 2024 focused on supporting individuals facing significant challenges:
- EMCC-Barclays LifeSkills Programme: Designed to assist those struggling with job-seeking, this programme empowered participants with the tools to navigate the uncertainties of unemployment. Through peer support groups, counselling sessions, and skills training, 145 clients were supported, with 61 individuals successfully placed in jobs.
- Supporting Retrenched Lazada Employees: In January, EMCC collaborated with NTUC Food, Drinks & Allied Workers Union (FDAWU) to assist retrenched Lazada employees, offering two complimentary counselling sessions to each individual. At Lazada Support Fest organised by Lazada alumni, Lead Counsellor Sapna Mathews also shared practical mental health strategies, providing much-needed guidance during a challenging time.
- CaringSG Family Day: EMCC joined this initiative to support caregivers of individuals with special needs. While our focus is mental health, we resonated with the cause of uplifting caregivers who work tirelessly for their loved ones. Through our booth, we connected with the community and shared resources to promote mental well-being.
Advocating for Mental Health Awareness
In 2024, EMCC amplified its advocacy efforts to reduce stigma and empower individuals:
-
- ‘It’s Not You’ Advocacy Campaign: This campaign creatively addressed mental health stigma by introducing three relatable characters representing Depression, Trauma, and Stress. Highlights included a fun quiz on coping strategies and a panel discussion, Pretty Mental, featuring MP Dr Wan Rizal, industry experts, and EMCC counsellor Thomas Tsang.
- Public Talks: EMCC reached 673 individuals through public talks on topics like workplace burnout, building resilience, and practical mental health strategies. These sessions empowered participants with actionable advice and encouraged open conversations about mental health.

Empowering Mental Health Practitioners
In 2024, EMCC played a pivotal role in equipping mental health professionals with the skills to better address relational and mental health challenges:
- Gottman Level 1 Clinical Training: Provided practitioners with evidence-based tools to help couples build stronger relationships.
- Individual Therapy for Couple Problems: A specialised course focused on equipping counsellors to address relationship conflicts on a one-to-one basis.
- SUSS x EMCC Gottman Training Collaboration: This partnership showcased EMCC’s leadership in advancing relational and mental health practices.
Through these initiatives, 104 practitioners were empowered to deliver higher-quality mental health support, contributing to a more resilient and supported community.
Fundraising for Hope
In 2024, EMCC introduced Life Songs , a heartfelt compilation of 150 poems inspired by the Psalms, authored by Dr Kenny Tan. Donation proceeds from this initiative were directed towards subsidising counselling sessions for lower-income clients, raising an impressive $99,280. Beyond fundraising, the poetry book served as a powerful medium for fostering hope and connection, deeply resonating with readers and donors alike.
Looking Ahead
As we step into 2025, EMCC remains steadfast in our mission to empower individuals, strengthen relationships, and foster a culture of hope. We are deeply grateful to our partners, donors, and community members who have journeyed with us. Together, let’s continue to make an impact and create a brighter future for all.
