Marriage & Couple Counselling

  • Are you struggling to understand your dating partner or constantly getting into arguments with your spouse?
  • Are you hurting because of emotional neglect or an extra-marital affair? Wondering whether to stay in or leave the marriage?

Relationships are hard work, and when two individuals get together, they each bring their own experiences and perspectives into the relational dance.

Couples therapy may sound like a dramatic move, but instead, it can be a very healthy step for a relationship as it concurs that the couple is interested in working on their relationship with commitment and intentionality. In couple therapy, couples work through their challenges, understand their partner, and to develop healthier ways of communicating and building healthier ways of connecting with each other.

Reasons why you should consider couple therapy:

  • Setting a strong foundation before marriage (premarital counselling)
  • Tackling a major life transition (i.e. moving house, new job, becoming new parents, relocation, empty nesting).
  • When you hare having the same fights again and again without much conclusion.
  • Wanting to learn healthy communication
  • Finding ways to grow closer to your partner
  • Wanting to build a stronger relationship via trust & commitment
  • When you feel that the presence of past experiences or trauma has impacted your relationship with your partner
  • Considering whether this relationship is for you.
  • When you are having to manage the presence of betrayal (i.e. affairs, unfaithfulness).

Pondering and deliberating about couple counselling does not mean that the relationship has failed. On the contrary, it shows the dedication to move and create a safe space to work on the relationship.

Speak with our counsellors to explore your options and about how you can work to resolve these relational issues with your partner. There may also be situations where the couple may need individual counselling to process their personal issues that is unrelated to but affecting the relationship.

Our counsellors are trained in marital therapy and Gottman Method Couples Therapy (see more below).
