What we do at EMCC
• To come alongside people in distress through counselling and mediation
• To prevent emotional and relational problems with training and equipping
We are a society under stress
More marriages are on the rocks. In 2019, 7,623 marriages ended in divorce or annulment – 3.8% higher than the 7,344 in the previous year. Between 2015 and 2019, the average number of marriages dissolved was 7,536 a year, up from 7,402 in the preceding five-year period
The number of suicides in Singapore for those in their 20s remained the highest in 2019 compared to those in other age groups. Suicide is the leading cause of death for those aged 10 to 29. There were 400 reported suicides in 2019, compared with 397 the year before
EMCC needs your help
• To reach more people who may be unaware of their need, and the usefulness of intervention
• To subsidise more people who cannot afford the full fees
• To diversify and benefit more with preventative training
Targets and deployment
EMCC projects that it needs about $1.4 million in 2021 to fund its activities below (in descending order of priority):
1. Subsidies – $100,000 to help clients who cannot afford the full fees
2. Capacity Building – $900,000 to develop and provide highly skilled intervention staff and associates to meet clients’ needs
3. Overheads – $400,000 to cover office space, client support and administration
The EMCC is hoping to raise $120,000 through a Fundraising Dinner as part of its efforts to cover the above projected expenses
