Communal Tapestry Weaving by Natalia Weaves

How Are You Feeling?

Emotional awareness is the ability to recognise and make sense of our own emotions, as well as those of others.

In this piece, visitors are invited to actively identify and express their emotions through the act of weaving a strip of coloured fabric onto a frame.

In doing so, visitors and their loved ones take a step towards greater awareness of their own emotional state as well as that of others around them.

Over the course of the event, a tapestry emerges, indicating the collective mood of the audience while sending the message that everyone’s feelings are important in creating an overall atmosphere.

Mental Health Photo Exhibit by Mental Pictures

“We are a group of film photographers who are out to erode the lines of stigmatisation of mental health.

To do that, we believe that the responsibility starts within each of us to be open on talking about mental health: both the good and the bad of it.

A compilation of our visuals and thoughts in writing, of the themes on mental health that matter to us. We bore our vulnerabilities in hopes to start conversations on mental health, and we hope some of our sharing resonates with you.”

9. Positive Journaling for Well-Being Workshop by Stephtcreates

Date: Saturday, 9th December
Time: 11am – 12.30pm
Location: EMCC (National Library Building)
Programme Type: Workshop
Price: $88
Seats available: 24 pax

Are you curious about mindful art and journaling and how they can be used to enhance our well-being? Mindful art and journaling can have positive effects in helping us make sense of our thoughts and feelings, and help bring focus and calm. This introductory workshop provides an opportunity for individuals to experience guided journaling facilitated by Steph T (@stephtcreates), through a series of hands-on mindful art and positive journaling activities for self-care, self-expression and self-discovery.

The focus of this workshop will be on positive journaling, where participants will uncover their signature values/strengths (i.e. values in action) and explore how journaling can help us to discover more about ourselves and our inner values/strengths. Research has shown that strengths use is linked to higher levels of well-being. Though each person has certain signature values/strengths, many are not truly aware of the values/strengths they possess. Values/strengths reflect people’s core, and allow them to be their best selves. Therefore, this
experiential learning workshop allows individuals to explore using positive journaling as a pathway to enhance well-being for self and others around us.

This workshop is open to the general public (aged 13 and above) and welcomes anyone who would like to embark on a journey of self-discovery through journaling. Participants do not need to have any journaling background to join. The only requirement is curiosity and the willingness to give yourself the freedom to express in the way that feels right for you. This is suitable for those seeking personal development, better self-awareness and enhanced well-
being.

Each participant will take home a MD Japan notebook that will help you embark on your own journaling journey. Participants will also have access to sharing art materials during the hands-on workshop activities.
