About “Life Songs – Journeying Through the Psalms” by Kenny Tan
Through the lens of his everyday life, Kenny, an inspiring poet, has found deep solace writing poetry. A collection of his poetic expressions, the “Life Songs” book delves into a myriad of emotions and experiences of pain and joy, as he draws strength and purpose from the 150 Psalms of the Bible.
Through his poems, Kenny takes readers on a journey filled with poignant reflections and illuminating insights. His literary works, including “Sunday’s Coming”, “Pen & Paper: Creative Conversations” co-authored with Wendy Wong, “Break Through – A Pilgrim’s Journey” and “Wounded Healer”, showcase his versatility and sensitiveness to the world around us expressed so stirringly through the world of poetry and storytelling.
“I spent 1,227 days (from 1 January 2021 to 12 May 2024) with a ‘strange’ companion who eventually became a close friend – the book of Psalms – and responded to each of its 150 songs with a poem, a personal life song.
Each poem was inspired by life itself – as the psalms became a regular companion, sojourning with me through bright and dark days, across the mountain peaks and deep valleys of life. Through seasons of fruitfulness and drought, the psalms awakened and soothed my emotions with their life-giving and hope-inspiring words.
It is my prayer that you too will find your life song in each psalm and poem. May each reflection, as it has been for me, become a friend and fellow traveller in your journey of faith.”
