This one day workshop will explore the main evidenced-based theories and models relating to intimate relationships and how to assist an individual partner to make positive change through the use of psycho-education, cognitive and emotional self-exploration and behavioural interventions. The training will incorporate lecture, group discussion, video and Q & A.

 

Learning outcomes

In this one-day workshop, attendees will:

  • Understand the evidence for and against offering Individual Therapy for Couple Problems.
  • Identify the pitfalls of working with only one partner.
  • Gain insight into the knowledge and skills required for therapists to undertake this work with clients.
  • Appreciate the therapeutic stance required to successfully undertake this particular kind of work.
  • Develop skill in the assessment of clients presenting with this issue.
  • Learn key therapeutic interventions.

Who Should Attend

  • Counselling practitioners working with individual adult clients who wish to gain greater skill and understanding in addressing couple problems.

CE Hours/Credits

  • Upon completion, attendees will receive a Certificate of Completion offered by Relationship Institute Australasia for 6 CE hours/credits.

Pre-requisites

  • Ideally, attendees have completed tertiary studies in the field/s of counselling, psychology, social work, and/or pastoral care and are members of an aligned professional association or regulatory body.

Important points to note

  1. Your registration will not be confirmed until you have made full payment of your selected level/s within 14 days of your invoice date. We will release the spot if payment is not received on time.

  3. Prices stated here are in Singapore Dollars.

Payment modes

After registration, you will receive an email with an attached invoice with more payment details. From there, you may choose to pay via Bank Transfer, Paypal, or PayNow.

 

Cancellations and Refund policy

1. Registration is on a first come, first served basis, and confirmed only after full payment has been received. After receipt of payment, a registration confirmation email will be sent. If no payment is received, the registration is considered null.

2. Cancellation by Participant

  • In the event of unexpected circumstances such as illnesses and/or emergencies, we may at our full discretion, consider providing a partial refund upon the production of a medical certificate or other supporting documents as we may deem necessary. Otherwise, no refund will be given for any cancellations.

3. Cancellation by Organiser

  • The organiser reserves the right, at its sole and absolute discretion, to cancel the event without notice or reasons, and participants will be entitled to a full refund of the registration fee.
  • Limitation of Liability: The organisation shall not be liable for any additional costs, expenses, or losses incurred by participants.

4. Substitute Attendance

  • In the event a registered participant is unable to attend, they may nominate a substitute (e.g. a colleague) to attend in their place.
  • The substitute must meet the eligibility criteria for participation in the event, as determined by the organiser.
  • The organiser must receive notification of the substitution at least seven (7) days prior to the workshop/training.

Trish Purnell-Webb’s Biography

Trish Purnell-Webb is a highly experienced Clinical Psychologist and educator specialising in the field of intimate relationships and individual therapy for couple-related issues. Trish has been trained directly by Drs John and Julie Gottman, and has been working with couples for over 25 years.

Trish provides a range of services to members of the general public including couples therapy, intensive marathon couples therapy, online couples therapy, couples workshops, and is an active educator and speaker for many community and professional organisations.

As a presenter, Trish is regarded as an engaging, personable, and respectful speaker who is able to connect easily with her audiences and use every day examples and humour to illustrate her point to assist listeners’ understanding of concepts and ideas.
