Marriage Preparation Programme

Our Marriage Preparation Programme (MPP) is the starting point where couples embark on this journey as they prepare themselves for a lifetime of commitment to each other.

MPP prepares couples for a healthy, enriching marriage and harmonious family life. It is designed to lay strong foundation for your marriage and offers you the opportunity to discuss important topics like child rearing, finances, life goals, and to work out any issues. It equips couples with the necessary skills in managing differences, making room for open communication, and facilitating support for each other. The programme includes a marital and personality inventory, and caters to marrying, re-marrying, as well as married couples within the first year of marriage.

Please do note that MPP is designed to improve and strengthen couples’ relationships and to provide useful skills in charting a fulfilling marriage roadmap. It is not intended to be a substitute programme for couples therapy or counselling treatment.

Benefits of Attending a Marriage Preparation Programme

Attending a marriage preparation course in Singapore can be an incredibly valuable experience for couples looking to strengthen their relationship before taking that big step.

Strengthening Communication Skills

One of the main perks is learning how to communicate better with each other.

Let’s face it – misunderstandings happen in every relationship, but when you know how to talk things through clearly and openly, it can help you connect on a deeper level.

Building Emotional Intimacy and Handling Disagreements

Another significant advantage is learning how to handle disagreements. Every couple argues at some point, but these courses give you practical ways to resolve conflicts without letting things spiral out of control. You’ll also get a chance to work on building emotional intimacy. Through guided discussions and engaging activities, you’ll learn how to become even more connected and supportive of each other.

Addressing Key Tension Points and Building a Shared Vision for the Future

Marriage preparation courses often explore common areas of tension that couples encounter, such as financial expectations, lifestyle habits, in-law dynamics, and holiday celebrations. By discussing these topics openly, you’ll gain tools to navigate potential challenges together, helping to create harmony and mutual understanding. These programmes also provide a chance to talk about your broader goals, values, and dreams, aligning with the life you both want to build for the future.

Addressing Potential Concerns Early

The course also allows you to address any potential concerns before they become bigger problems. Whether it’s differences in family dynamics or personal habits, talking about them now can save a lot of trouble later.

Guided Support from Experienced Facilitators

You’ll be guided by experienced facilitators who’ve worked with countless couples, so you’ll get practical, down-to-earth advice and support.

Overall, signing up for a marriage preparation course in Singapore can give you the tools you need to build a strong, happy marriage. It’s a great way to prepare for the future together.

FAQs about the Marriage Preparation Programme

1. Can I get a refund if I am unable to attend the sessions due to an emergency?

Unfortunately, we don’t offer refunds if you need to withdraw from the programme. However, if you need to reschedule, just let us know at least two working days in advance, and we’ll adjust your appointment. If not, there’s a $50 cancellation fee.

2. Can I attend alone if my fiancé/fiancée is unable to make it for the sessions?

We don’t recommend attending the sessions alone. The course is most effective when both partners participate together, as it’s designed to help you work through important topics as a couple.

3. What is the duration of the marriage preparation programme at EMCC?

We offer two options. The Individual Couple format includes four 2-hour sessions, totalling 8 hours. The sessions are conducted during office hours. You will need to make an appointment beforehand.

Alternatively, the Group Programme is conducted over two four-hour sessions on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. Couples are encouraged to enrol at least six months before their wedding, or if you are already married, within the first year of marriage.

4. Is there any follow-up support after completing the course?

While there is no formal follow-up programme, we provide resources to help you continue building a strong relationship after completing the marriage preparation programme at EMCC. You are always welcome to contact us if you need additional support or guidance.
