For Clinicians
EMCC is a professional counselling training centre dedicated to the development of social service practitioners. We design and deliver training programmes grounded in world-class research and internationally recognised frameworks, supporting the continued growth of clinicians in Singapore and the region.
Our role is not to replace clinical practice, but to strengthen it, by equipping professionals with evidence-based tools, structured methodologies, and applied skills that translate meaningfully into their counselling work.
Advancing Clinical Practice in Family Counselling
Effective family counselling in Singapore requires a strong understanding of relational systems, intergenerational patterns, and the wider social context influencing family functioning. EMCC’s clinician training supports practitioners working with families by deepening their systemic thinking, assessment skills, and intervention planning.
Since 2021, EMCC has been a training partner for the MSF-SUSS Family Counselling Certification Programme, contributing to the professional development of clinicians engaged in family-focused work within the social service sector.
This training foundation enhances practice in family counselling, supporting clinicians who work with family conflict, parenting challenges, caregiving stress, and relational breakdown across different life stages.
Evidence-Based Training for Couple Counselling Practice
Couple or relationship counselling requires a structured, research-informed approach to communication, conflict management, and emotional regulation. EMCC provides specialised clinician training that strengthens competence in couple counselling, with a strong emphasis on evidence-based models and practical application.
EMCC has been a training partner of The Gottman Institute since 2014. In addition, as part of the MSF-SUSS Family Counselling Certification Programme, EMCC delivers the module Couple Counselling: The Gottman Approach.
These programmes support clinicians working with couples across premarital, marital, and relationship repair contexts, ensuring alignment with internationally recognised research and local professional standards.
